The art of Robert Rauschenberg transcends
the boundaries separating Abstract Expressionism, Pop Art and
Surrealism. His pieces incorporate "found objects"
and personal items such as bed sheets onto painted canvas, thus
merging painting with a sort of avant-sculpture. Rauschenberg
has earned national acclaim for his work, and many of his pieces
are housed at institutions such as the National Museum of American
Art in Washington, DC.
